One city, two halves: how Kigali was founded and what happened here in 1994, then the Kigali that rebuilt itself.

The Kigali Group City Tour is the only shared city tour in Kigali, ideal for solo travellers who want to explore with others instead of paying for a private guide. A licensed guide, no more than 8 guests. Take the morning (Kigali's Past), the afternoon (Kigali's Present), or both as a full day with lunch at Kigali Heights. We collect you from your Kigali hotel.

Prefer a private guide and your own pace? Take the full-day historical tour of Kigali, or spend a morning on the This Is Africa Nyamirambo walking tour, with a cooking lesson in a local home.

Choose your half, or both

  • Morning · Kigali's Past, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM: US$60
  • Afternoon · Kigali's Present, 1:30–5:30 PM: US$60
  • Full day with lunch at Kigali Heights: US$100

How group departures work

  • Green: you’re first. Your tour confirms when a second guest books, and we email you the moment they do.*
  • Yellow: confirms instantly. Someone has already booked or it’s a Saturday (always runs).
  • Last minute: less than 24 hours away and nobody booked yet. Book for two or more, or add the US$60 private top-up and it runs for you.

* Still the only guest 18 hours before departure? We email you three choices: move to a confirmed date, add a US$60 private top-up so it runs anyway, or get a full refund.

Group departure FAQs

What happens if I’m the only person booked?

Your place is booked. The tour confirms as soon as a second guest books, and we email you straight away. If you’re still the only one 18 hours before, we email you three choices: move to a confirmed date, add a US$60 private top-up so it runs anyway, or cancel for a full refund.

When is the tour confirmed?

When two guests have booked the same morning or afternoon. Saturdays always run, even for one guest. A full-day booking needs both halves confirmed.

What is the private top-up?

An extra US$60 that guarantees your tour runs, even if no one else books. One guest pays US$120 for a half day or US$160 for the full day. Others can still join; if they do, we refund your top-up in full.

Can I book for tomorrow?

Yes, if someone has already booked that tour. If nobody has, a single guest can’t book it less than 24 hours ahead: book for two or more, or add the private top-up and it runs for you.
